The initial ideas for this website started coming together in mid April of 2006. Using only bare-bones HTML and badly constructed framesets, it consisted only of a marquee and 2 Harry Potter GIF animations (which a few people that will remain unknown to this day use as PHPBB sigs). Only since early August 2006 did things start to get serious.
The idea for the marquee at the top of each page has always been around - as has the red & blue boxes with the "SC" partition. Believe it or not, the blue and red boxes are supposed to symbolise a magnet, or rather, the two poles of a magnet - North and South. The way in which a magnet works means that two alike poles will repel each other while two opposite poles will attract each other. So why is it different here? There is a reason, after all... Isn't there? That said, these are being phased out in favor of <h2> tags.
I started writing the HTML and doing the design for the site as a result of a very long summer holiday and very little feeling of self confidence or achievement. I wanted somewhere to offload stuff - a place to share stuff with the world. This is it. Welcome. Welcome to my world.
The site will be reaching it's 4th birthday this summer (WOO!) and I am no nearer my long term goal of world domination since I started it. I initially thought that all I would have to do to be recognised as a world wide cool dude (or something along those lines) was write a bunch of HTML codes and copy them to my web server. Well yes, but there are some other things as well. Creating this site has tought me a lot of things (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Google, Google oddities, META tags, browser support, the pain in the bum that is IE compatibility and such like).
The type of English that I have used to create this site is neither British or American based. It's somewhere in the middle - something I call "Stevie C English". One would say "colour" as "color", so why not spell it like that?
The site was started as a resource for different types of writing and as an internet programming project. I wrote the old site in MS Notepad & Gedit - TextEdit being used in conjunction with iWeb for the newer one. My site is tested with the latest release of Mozilla Firefox.
This site works best with JavaScript enabled and a resolution of at least 1024 * 768 pixels.
NoScript users: please add my site to your trusted list - neither I nor my site bite.
A bit about Stevie C
What can I say about me? What can't I say about me? My name is Steve, or Stevie C. (At no point do I aim to undermine your intelligence) I also go under the alias of DJ Stevie C - I produce my songs (tunes/choons) under my own Indie record label - "Unstable Atom Records" whose parent label is "Spector Records". I use Cubase & Garageband to produce my tunes. Samples of my work are available from the audio page.
As well as composing music, I also enjoy mixing it. This involves taking recording sessions or audio stems and mixing them down into a stereo master (what you would hear on a CD). I'm always looking for new music tracks to mix - so if you are in/represent a band and need some songs mixed, get in touch. What's the worst that could happen?
My Past Self...
By day I was merely your mild mannered school-leaver-turned-college-student. By night I was a super evil genius computer-programmer-turned-hacker (no, just kidding...).
Now, I have a direction to go (but no map) and stuff to do (taking over the world etc).
I would say not to attempt to argue with a guy until you have walked a mile in his shoes. That way, if you lose the argument, you are a mile away from him and he can't run after you because you have his shoes.
Here are the Bebo pages of my faithful helpers from the early days: Malch!!!: My faithful beta reader and listener. Hannah!!!: Malch's beta sidekick. Gonk prefers to remain anonymous.
